My Acer Aspire TC220--ES61 has always made this sound every so often because I assumed it was my 2TB Western Digital HDD since it used a spinning platter. Well, I just removed the HDD and am now currently using two SSD: a Seagate Barracuda and a Samsung. I've confirmed the computer is still making this noise, like a deep electric chirp you would hear from a hard drive, or a grinding noise lasting less than 1 second. I have no idea what it is, there are no moving parts in the SSD, it can't be a fan.

  • Can you record a video of the problem and post it on youtube? Was it a coil whine problem? Have you also checked out the dedicated gpu fan?
