Hi I currently have an acer nitro n50-100-eb12 and I was wondering if It’s possible to reuse the ram and power supply on another motherboard. I was planning on case swapping and also buying a new motherboard and planning to reuse the cpu, gpu, cooler, power supply and ram.

    Hi,
You have to check the new motherboard specifications if you have DDR4 2666MHz U-DIMM modules in your PC, you have to buy the motherboard which can accept these modules, same for the CPU as well, your motherboard has AMD Processor, so you need another AMD motherboard.

Hi I currently have an acer nitro n50-100-eb12 and I was wondering if It’s possible to reuse the ram and power supply on another motherboard. I was planning on case swapping and also buying a new motherboard and planning to reuse the cpu, gpu, cooler, power supply and ram.

Firstly, it depends what you want to do? As your Acer Nitro N50-100-EB12 has the following specs and comes with the following:

    • AMD R5-2500X Quad Core 3.6GHz, 4MB to 8MB Caches
    • 12G DDR 4 Memory, 1TB HDD Storage
    • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4G Dedicated Memory
    • SD Card Reader
    • DVDRW
    • AC WLAN, Bluetooth 5.0
    • HDMI, USB Type C, 3 x USB 3.1
    • 500W PS
    • Windows 10 Home - 64Bit

Firstly, you need to get a Socket AM4 type mainboard if you want to use your Ryzen 5-2500X 4 cores/8 threads 3.6GHz to 4.9GHz with 4MB to 8MB Caches CPU or if you want to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 2700X 8 cores/ 16 threads 3.7GHz to 4.3GHz and 4MB to 16MB cahes or the Ryzen Pro 2700X 8 cores/ 16 threads 3.6Ghz to 4.1GHz and 4MB to 16MB cahes CPU’s you need a motherboard that will accept the upper Ryzen CPUS?

With the RAM, all Socket AM4 type mainboard will accept DDR 4 Memory within these specs. The 500W power supply is acceptable to most Socket AM4 systems so you should be ok if you want to use the OEM GPU and not go to a higher spec which will strech the 500W PS? These are the limitations that you have as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4G is quite a good GPU and an upgrade to a higher Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 7 Pro CPU and an SSD or maybe a motherboard with provisions for M.2 SSD’s will give you great gains in performance for gaming. It all depends what level(s) of an upgrade you are trying to achieve or your budget stretches to?
