i have an i5 9400f. it was on default at 2.9 but i used MSI afterburner to make it go up to 3.9. i want to know if this will shorten my CPU's lifespan, if i should do this and of my cpu cooler is capable of cooling it

That link doesn't take me to an Acer. Which model do you have?

Intel says you are fine at that frequency. I'd run a utility to monitor temperatures, just in case, but you should see any issues.

it is an orion model. it has 1660ti 8 gb ram . will my cpu lifespan shorten or is it fine. i used msi afterburner to overclock it but know i cannot set it to default which is 2.9. it can run at 4.1 and is unlocked but i want to restore to default if shortens the lifespan. i have not messed around with the voltage. on idle it is 30 to 40 degrees celsius. when gaming it does not exceed 80

So your temps look good and Intel says you can go a bit faster yet. I'd say you are good to go, no need to worry about overall CPU life unless things get stressed, and at 40-80C you're not stressed.

Same as you did in the first place to overclock, you just tell it to set the speed back down.
