Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51 Dying?

So this morning I started having this exact same issue as the video in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/computerhelp/comments/fy06rg/i_have_an_acer_nitro_5_an515_when_i_power_it_on/

Didn't matter if the computer was plugged in or not. I removed the 8GB ram stick and just left the 4GB in, now it will boot up but the HDD clicks and only the SDD is detected.

I also noticed when I was finally able to log in that the battery wasn't charging (stuck at 38%) and if I removed the charger it would immediately die.

Now it's randomly started charging again and will run with the charger unplugged.

I can't tell if this is a RAM issue, a motherboard issue, a HDD issue or a battery issue.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Take the battery out and inspect/check its voltage first, also see if the battery is swollen and/or plugged in properly to the mainboard and if the plugs and wires are not corroded. Also check your charger at the plug end and the AC jack end at the laptop if its not damaged (from too much wear/use) and if its making full contact and not disconnecting?

If this is/was a ram, motherboard or a HDD issue the laptop wouldn’t boot into windows. This is most certainly a battery, charger or an AC jack (at charger or laptop ends) issue and you might have to either replace the battery, charger or AC jack. This happened to me and it was the battery and charger and once I replaced those it worked perfectly, just inspect the power issues of your Nitro 5 AN515-51.

Thanks I'll have a look at the battery and connector. Why would it boot with the 4gb of ram but not the 8gb? That puzzles me.

I just ran some battery diagnostics and this is what it's showing.

So I opened the laptop and unplugged the battery and just booted it with the charger in and it has the same issue, won't boot with 8GB stick only the 4GB stick and won't detect the HDD (I hear it clicking) but will detect the SDD.
