Hi, I have the Acer Aspire E 15

For the past few months my computer does not go to sleep properly when I close the lid. Sometimes it stays running and i then have to open it up and turn it off manually. Also, just recently I am finding that when my computer goes to sleep while in the open position and when I go back to start work again i get a black screen and and I can't bring up my sign-on page. It stays black and I can't access anything. I then have to manually turn my computer off and on again and re-start it. This is very annoying as i loose anything that wasn't saved properly.
What do you suggest I do?

First of all, which E 15 model do you have? There are a bunch of different ones... You likely have an app or driver running that doesn't play well with others. It's not responding to the system request for sleep. Try booting in safe mode to verify it goes to sleep OK without third party apps running. If it does then use msconfig.exe to disable all nonWindows startup apps then start adding them one at a time to find out which one is causing the issues.
