My Acer Nitro 5 2019 an515-54-58uk's touchpad recently just stopped working. Before, it can be fixed by uninstalling and it self reinstalls right away and it gets fixed. But now, it wont get fixed after how many uninstall and reinstalls, and even restarts. Tried to download the Elan drivers from the support page for my laptop model, but it says that the folder doesnt contain a compatible software driver.
Do you guys suggest cleaning the contacts of the touchpad and motherboard connection?
Pics related to the I2C HID Device is pasted below. If you need any more pics of specific specs, just tell me. Any help is greatly apprceiated! Thanks!

Hi,
Go to Acer support site and download Intel Serial IO driver, then in Device manager, expand System devices and uninstall Intel serial Host controller for A369 and if any other host controller driver, then install the downloaded driver.

Thanks again very much!0 -
Hi,
No, you don't have to update Serial Host Controllers, as long as your Touchpad works you are fine to leave them as they are.0 -

Hi,
You could try uninstalling the Serial IO driver and install the downloaded driver, then go to System Devices and uninstall Serial Host controller drivers, reboot and let windows install the driver.0 -
Done. Still doesn't work unfortunately.0

It started working again. Dunno how. I tried doing the upperfilters & lowerfilters deleting and editing in Registry. Problem is there is no lower or upperfilters. Tried the editing part which was also unsuccessfull and messed up my HID Drivers. Made numerous restarts and shutdowns. Until, one shutdown and turning it on without the charger plugged in and uninstalling and waiting for the system to reinstall the i2c hid device and the Acer Airplane Mode Controller (which also had the yellow triangle icon when I turned it on), the problem just vanished. I don't know which part fixed it.1

Glad you have resolved the issue, yes sometimes simple restart may correct the fault1

Unfortunately, when I turned off my laptop last night and turned it on today without the the charger plugged, the problem has, once again, appeared.0

@brummyfan2 would you suggest I post another one? Since this post is tagged as solved.0

So far, when I uninstall and let it reinstall autoatically, it gets fixed. But, this was also the case before and might be a recurring issue. Hopefully someone has a permanent solution coz this is driving me nuts. lol0
