Acer Aspire R won’t turn on

I bought my acer aspire R back in Jan 2017, so it’s pretty old but I’ve always taken really good care of it. Last night the battery died and when I plugged it in, the charging light didn’t turn on. I waited a few hours, checked in it and the battery never charged. I tried to turn it on, it won’t turn on. I bought a new charging cable today just in case that was the issue and it still won’t charge or turn on. Is there anything I can do or has it run it’s life course?

It depends on where the root cause sits. Which Aspire R model is it? Some have a cable that runs between the power jack and the motherboard and if it works it was loose the charger won't do anything. If that's the case just reconnecting it or replacing it isn't too tough of a fix. When a battery gets lower than the low charge threshold it has an internal circuit that doesn't allow recharging any more, to keep it from potentially overheating and catching on fire. In that case it's usually best to just replace the battery. There are other things, everything from a MB that's toast to a bad display, that can cause similar symptoms and usually aren't worth fixing on an older machine. Let's try and pin it down...
