Hi guys Im trying to use my ASUS VG248QE (144HZ) monitor with my laptop however im having issues enabling 144hz as i dont have an option to do so. Ive tried to use a hdmi to dvi cable which should support 1080p 144hz however i dont get an option to do so in the display settings. The hdmi is 2.0 on my laptop and my monitor supports 144hz through dvi so it should work. Could anyone tell me if my laptop even supports a 144hz output. Thanks

    Hi @Tommy123

To enable 144HZ from an external monitor you should try it with a display port cable.

Hope this helps you in some way.

Make sure your monitor supports 144Hz via HDMI, otherwise you will get whatever the monitor is capable to receive via HDMI.

Hi thanks for the reply, i have connected dvi to the monitor which supports 144hz and hdmi 2.0 to my laptop which should in theory work. But i cant get anything over 60hz atm.

Well seems that the adapter cable is not compatible, does the monitor has HDMI in? Neverming this is the picture of your monitor`s ports:

Why don`t you try with a HDMI to HDMI cable?

Hi the issue is my monitor does not support 144hz through hdmi, it only supports 144hz through dp or dvi. The issue with getting a hdmi to dp port is the cable is usually non bi directional meaning the dp has to go to the laptop and hdmi to monitor. Im going to order a better adapter hoping that fixes it
