HDMI not being recognized aspire z3-60

i have a acer aspire z3-605 and it is not recognizing the hdmi cable connection. \it is not the cable as it works when i connect my laptop to the tv.
\it was working before but it was figity but it is dead. \i tried updating the display, a different hdmi cable, turn off/turn on and some other solutions that were on line but it is simply not recognizing.
please help
