Despite what speccy claims, you better double check that you actually have two REPLACEABLE ram sockets. The typical a515-55 mainboard has one NON-REPLACEABLE soldered socket filled with 4GB ram and only one REPLACEABLE ram socket that can be filled with either a 4GB, 8GB or 16GB module. Since there are no such things as a 12GB module, I think your mainboard now has 4GB soldered NON-REPLACEABLE ram plus 8GB REPLACEABLE ram with no empty sockets even though Speccy claims one is empty. See mainboard configuration below. Only one replaceable ram socket is shown. The other socket is non-replaceable soldered on the other side of the board. Jack E/NJ

How many replaceable RAM  sockets do you have. Some mainboards have only one. Some two. If you have only one replaceable socket with an 8GB modules already installed for a total of 12GB, then you must replace the 8GB module with a 16GB module for 20GB max. Jack E/NJ
