I have been searching on this forum trying to figure out what could be wrong with my R5-471T. The touchscreen doesn't work, i have tried removing and reinstalling the drivers and it doesnt do anything when i look in the control panel, under the human interface, there isnt even one listed for the touch screen its like it just disappeared. This all happened when i updated the laptop to windows 10 this year. But i tried to see if it was recently removed fro the update but it wasnt, almost like it was never installed on the laptop. I remember it working a couple of years ago but then the digitizer screen broke so it quit working, then i just recently replaced it with a brand new screen and digitizer in one, that didnt help besides get rid of the cracked screen. I tried talking to acer about it but its out of warranty. I would really like to get this to work. Does anyone have any advice?

Does Device Manager complain about anything? The touchscreen looks to the underlying system like it's connected to a USB port, so if one of the low level drivers isn't being nice you can get that symptom.

I winder if there's any way to use that popup to see which device it is... The touchscreen isn't the only device that looks to the system like it's on USB. The touchpad and keyboard are two others, my system also uses that interface for the pen, WiFi and Bluetooth. I'm guessing that on yours the issue is with the touchscreen connection, since that's what's giving the symptoms. Those connections are wires in the eDP cable that runs between the MB and the screen and it gets flexed each time the laptop is opened or closed, so there might be some cracking and arcing going on.
