Hi,

I purchased an Acer Aspire 5 about 3 months ago and have been using the wireless network adapter to connect to Wifi with no issues. Today, the network adapter stopped working and when I check under device manager it tells me the device cannot start and the operation has failed. I've tried updating the driver but it seems to be the most up to date driver. version I have also tried to uninstall the device and restart the system with no luck. I'm looking for any help on how I can fix this. I'm able to connect to the internet with no issues with plugging in an ethernet cable, it seems its only the network adapter that has stopped working. I'm on Windows 10 home 64 bit.

Thanks

Open ControlPanel. Search 'restore point'. Click 'create a restore point' in left pane. In the box that pops up, is SystemProtection turned on? If yes, click SystemRestore button. Click next. Is there an automatic restore point with a date/time stamp for today or yesterday? Jack E/NJ

Yes there was a restore point for earlier today. I restored to that point and the network adapter seems to be working properly now. Thanks! Though I'm wondering if I have windows update etc. if the same issue will occur again?

Yes, it will happen again unless you temporarily block the errant update using Microsoft's show/hide update tool. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026726/windows-10-hide-updates-or-driver-updates

Is there an easy way to tell what the update was that caused the issue?

When I run that tool it gives me two options to block. One is a .NET framework update and the other is a general update for windows 10 version 1903.

What are the date stamps? Sept 27th is the one you found that corrected the issue. Jack E/NJ

It doesn't give me exact dates, only shows September 2020. When I just reran I only see the .NET framework update now

The tool probably hid it automatically. Jack E/NJ
