My daughter's laptop just stopped working. Screen is black and can't get the laptop to do anything.
When plugged in the blue power light is on. As soon as the power lead is removed the blue light goes out. It has never given us problems before.
I have followed the advice for similar problems - resetting battery, pressing certain keys etc but nothing at all happens. Screen just black, no sounds. The laptop is only just over a year old. Please help!

Which Swift 1 model does she have? It should be something like SF1xx-xx-xxxx. It initially sounds like it could be a battery problem, but we really should do some more diagnosis before sending you off on a hunt for a replacement. Some of these have the power jack and LED on a daughter card that's cabled over to the MB, and the cable might have come loose or broken... Without a connection from the incoming power and the MB the battery never sees the power.
