RAM Upgrade Issue - AN515-54-58YY-CA

Hi there, I have a Acer Nitro 5 I bought for school and I've noticed a few weird things. The first is that I cannot upgrade my first single slot above 8GB. The laptop is compatible with 32GB (2x16). I have checked msconfig that RAM is not being limited, and have ensured it is seated properly. I swapped to an SSD upon receiving it as it came with a HDD, I'm wondering if this may be an issue? I have updated all drivers/firmware and any time I enter the 16gb stick the power flashes a couple times then shuts off. I have tested that it works on other computers, and my two 8GB Corsair Vengeance sticks work in 1 slot. All are matching sticks, Corsair Vengeance 2400mz.

The laptop came with the second RAM slot missing pins, however I cannot send it out for repair as I need it for my school semester and with everything being locked down I can't receive a spare from the college, so if it will run the 16GB in one slot I'd rather have that for now.

If there are missing pins on the RAM slot that`s definitely an issue and the MB have to be replaced. On the other hand if you are happy with 16GB you can wait until you will be able to send it to Acer. But don't wait until the warranty expires.

I'd be happy with just the 16GB, I'd just like to find out why the 16GB stick isn't being recognized by the slot, light flashes a couple times then shuts off.
