Want to drop temps as much as i can before summer, so along side a repaste, undervolt and maybe underclock i want to also learn how to dust the cooling system.

Are there any write ups from members/guides on how to do this to your nitro 5 2020? (side question: are there stickys/write ups by members on this fourm like car fourms??? i see the 3 pins at top of the post page but anymore?)

Ill be removing under plate, can you dust the cpu and gpu intake on the laptop body ( not plate/cover), if so just where exactly is that, couldnt find any vents around the heat sink at all and on the underside of the heatsink its sealed, no vents?

Where do the CPU and GPU get its air then from the center vents (2020 an515 55) inside the laptop?

Thank you!

The ventilation of a laptop is crossflowing, the fans are a means of extracting (virtually sucking) the hot air out through the vents on the side(s), the back vents on the AN515 55 are used as an incoming fresh air vents. That is why the fans are mounted near the heatsink(s) of the cpu/gpu (where the most heat is generated) and they extract the hot air directly through side vents and sucks cold air through the back vents on the AN515 55, this also sucks hot air out of the laptops case. As far as “couldn’t find any vents around the heat sink at all and on the underside of the heatsink its sealed, no vents” it doesn’t need it as it sucks the hot air out either of the side vents, the AN515 55 case is a sealed unit and the fans use air and extraction by means of pressurised extraction.

Btw and in hot climates, its advised that you purchase a laptop tablet cooler that assists and adds extra fans to assist in forcing cold air and extracting hot air, which helps cool your laptop. There are many other means of modding your laptop but that is another and more extreme method. There are certain modds that you can do to increase the overall crossflow ventilation and add extra venting points into the case but this will void your warranty if your laptop is under warranty and these modds are completely up to you? As it entails drilling and modifying your case. I’ve done these sorts of mods on many laptops and they work very well in cooling a laptop and much better than the means of undervolting and/or underclocking.

With cpu/gpu pasting, use the “pea dot method” on both cpu/gpu, which means that you clean the cpu/gpu and the heatsink surfaces with a soft clean cloth or tissue and use a none corrosive cleaning solution and apply a pea size amount of paste and then reapply the cpu/gpu heatsink. Also, clean the vents and fans (with a soft bristled brush) of any deposited material that is on them including the vents, simple its not rocket science lol

Thanks for the reply StevenGen. However, my 2020 sucks cold air from underneath the laptop, not from the rear vents. The rear vents make up the "quad exhaust", 2 rear, 2 side. Maybe your thinking about previous version...

Do you know if this fourm has stickys? Posts that get saved, since their informative like some car fourms. How To's style documents?

Got the cooler, works well i think but not enough for me to reduce temps.

Do you mean "side vents" like drilled holes on the heatsink pipes that pass over the cpu? must be vents on that heatsink somewhere near where the cpu die joins the cooper heatsink....
