My dvd player is not working properly on Aspire 7250.

I can play a music cd via ClearFi but I cannot install some new software I bought via the cd/dvd that came with the program.  The player is turning the cd/dvd but it is not recognizing it.  It acts like it is stuck on trying to burn files to a disc also.  It keeps telling me to insert a disc when there is already one in there.  My computer is an Aspire 7250.

What software?  What disc type is it on?

What program are you using to attempt to burn?

I have not attempted to burn a cd so did not use any program for that. Matter of fact I have not really used this cd/dvd player much.... I have installed Hallmark Card Studio.  Then I purchased the upgrade for 2013 for that and it came with some extra software.  When I tried to install that I had problems getting it to read the disc to install it but messed around with it long enough that it finally let it transfer from disc albeit very very slow.  Since then I have not been able to get it to recognize any other installation discs.  I have Photo Explosion ver. 5 and then 3 other extra software that came with Hallmark upgrade, which are Hoyle, Family Tree Maker Elements  and The Recipe Manager.  It also will not play music CD thru Windows Media Player.  I'm sure this is an issue with a driver or firmware but I couldnt figure out if I needed the files it was offering me or not and if they would fix any issue I was having.  There were no clear instructions with the files that I could find.

The quickest and easiest way to eliminate software issues would be to return the unit to the factory default load.

If you suspect that there is a software problem, this should eliminate it.
