Hi, had a V3-571g since 2012, used only for Cubase music and VSTs, still works fine, just have an external sound card. Can I upgrade using the above or am I wasting my time?
Can see similar questions, but they didn't cover the above.
Thanks in advance, Gavinm2

Yes, your ODD uses the standard SATA connector so finding a caddy should be fairly easy. I did a similar upgrade to one of my laptops that was around that age. You don't add RAM through the caddy, it's only for a single SATA device, like an SSD. How much memory do you have installed now? It supports up to 8GB using two 4GB DDR3 1066/1333 sticks (note, not DDR3L). Depending on what you have in there now I'd make sure it's at the max with the 1333s. You *might* have issues with booting from the caddy, but I'd get around that by putting your old HDD in the caddy and the new SSD in the HDD bay.
