I have a R11 chromebook with the latest updates. Normal mode and tent mode work just fine. Tablet mode doesn't. When i completely fold the R11, the keyboard is disabled as it should. Also when i rotate the device, the screen orientation follows. But it seems that te touchscreen disables also. If i tab the screen, nothing happens, rendering the chromebook useless when in tablet mode. Threads on generic chromebook forums mention tablet mode nog working on other devices also. I hope anyone has a clue

In case you still didn't find a solution yet, which I didn't for a year now, what worked for me is disconnecting any mouse or keyboard devices connected to your Chromebook, I was confused since I had none, turns out you have to unpair any exisiting bluetooth mouse or keyboard devices, even if they are not connected, if they appear in your setting, it will never turn to tablet mode.
Hopefully this helps you or someone else who comes by here.

Yes, that is how they typically work, both Chromebooks and Windows laptops.
