Hello everyone

I have been asked to take a look at an Acer Predator 300 Gaming laptop which was having charging issues. The original DC Jack had become damaged and would only work if it was 'wiggled about a bit'. A replacement DC jack was ordered, however the person who purchased it was not able to get it working (or the laptop charging) - and decided to put the orginal one back in and bring it to me.
Now, this is where it gets interesting! After having the laptop dropped off, I powered it up for the first time only to find that after a few seconds it would shut back down - then back up again (in a continious loop).
I tried the following in order to resolve the issue:
- Disconnected power, held down 'battery reset switch' for 30/40 seconds, reconnected power
- Opened up the laptop, disconnected the battery, held down power button for 30 seconds, plugged in AC adapter
- Tried alternative AC Adapter
- Removed RAM and HDD, reconnected power
- Reset CMOS
- Reconnected Battery, HDD and RAM module (after cleaning)
At this point I managed to get the laptop to stay on (LED keyboard lights,
charging light, power light) but the fans cut out after a few seconds and I'm still not getting any display on the screen. I've tried hooking it up to an external HDMI monitor but no go.
I'm now baffled - as according to the owner, the laptop was booting up fine before it was brought to me

the only issue was the charging (or lack of).
Is there any way a dodgy DC Jack could end up frying the board in any way, or is this just pure bad luck?
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it SO much - I'm at my wits end

Thank you very much in advance!
