In 2018 I purchased a SPIN laptop for my daughter who was starting college from the ACER website. She used it for 3 months and then left for a mission to Oregon and the laptop has sat in a drawer for the last 18 months. She is back and started school yesterday. The battery on her laptop no longer works. It won't start with just the battery. It won't charge. In Windows 10 it shows no battery present, and a 255% charged message when you click on the battery options. The back of the laptop gets warm when plugged in.
I spent two days trying to fix the laptop. I read many posts on this website and I'm not the only one with this problem. A few things I tried....All Windows updates applied. Used the pin reset for the battery on bottom or laptop for 5 seconds and 40 seconds -- many times. Uninstalled and reinstalled the device driver, check for new hardware, reboot, a few times.
I think the battery might be dead but I read about others who have changed out the battery and still had the problem. I don't know what to do. Should I just cut my losses with ACER and move on to a different computer vendor. I contacted ACER support and they were no help at all because I'm out of warranty. Can anyone advice me? Any help? Has anyone been successful with a battery change out?
