Aspire GX-281 PSU upgrade possible?
Hello all,
I just picked up this machine from a friend who had it sitting around unused since he built his other machine. This one is working perfectly after an SSD+16 gb Ram upgrade with a fresh Win10 Home install. I've done some homework and figured out a ton of info from these forums as well as others about what my potential upgrade path looks like. So far, the Ryzen 5 1600 in it seems to be doing well and should last for some time.
I plan to upgrade from the included Zotac 1050 ti to an MSI GTX1070 Aero ITX card as I know the part will fit and I have an 8-pin adapter included with my stock PSU already. The issue is I worry about the stock LiteOn 500-watt PSU being sufficient enough, and I worry about it's quality for long term sustainability. I found some info that implies that I can upgrade to any PSU as long as it is in ATX form factor.
I'm curious if anybody here can confirm this or if anybody has upgraded their PSU in this or a similar GX unit, and if so what was used and how is it now?
I'm hoping that I can pick up something like the Corsair CX650M and that be a viable, plug and play upgrade.
Thanks in advance!
