I was hoping to upgrade the ram so I used crucial's scan tool to find the correct ram for my model and ordered https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd8266/ct12337301. Upon installation I got a black screen. Inserting both individually and simultaneously then booting up had the same result. I was hoping someone would have some insight on this problem.
Thank you in advance.

  • There are two possibilities:
    a) install a ram that the main board recognizes, so you can update the bios. Some bios updates can add compatibility with specific hardware;
    b) replace the rams memories with the seller.

    Thank you in advance.

    Do the things that 'egydiocoelho" said as the 16GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM PC4-21333 should work as its compatible with your laptop. Also check if you have seated the ram properly and make sure that you have pushed EXTRA hard on both ram stick(s) so that they are seated properly.

    Also, did you use a ‘static wrist band’ when you took out your old ram and installed the new ram? As that could contribute to extensive static being built up (when you changed the ram) and you transferred allot of static into the ram slots and mainboard, which could contribute to the slots being damaged. You always have to have a ‘static wrist band’ when making contact with any computer electronic components!

    Also, try and see if your Nitro 5 AN515-53-XXXX works with the OEM ram after you got the “Black Screen” with just inserting 1x 16GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM ram stick into the first ram slot? Then do the same using the new ram 1x 16GB DDR4-2666 SODIMM and use the second slot only and see if that works? And tell us what happens?
