Hi.
I own the Aspire V3-771G-53214G75Makk, Model no. VA70 which has 4gb memory installed.
I bought a G.Skill 2x4gb kit to replace the old one and upgrade my system to 8gb total ram.
As you can see in the picture I already replaced the old memory and placed the new one. But when I try to install the second DIMM, the empty slot isn't like the first one and I can't place the DIMM into it. More specifically the slot doesn't lift up when you press the two little side levels. It also looks different as it doesn't have the two small grooves the first one has.
So, is this how its meant to be or not? What exactly is the second slot and why is different than the other one? Does this mean the laptop takes only one ram DIMM and if yes how much is the maximum ram DIMM it allows? Any thoughts on this?
Thank you.

The socket doesn't lift up. You insert the sodimm into the socket at about a 30* angle then push it down. The two side levers will move out on their own while pushing the sodimm down and then snap back to hold the sodimm down. Jack E/NJ

I did it on the first socket and it works as intended. You can see the G.Skill sodimm I placed. Sadly the other socket doesn't work properly as when I push it down nothing happens. The levers stay at their place, not moving, not locking. Also when pushing down it's not going smoothly as the other socket. It's like it's stable and I just push it. I don't know how to explain it but it isn't working as the first socket.

Shown below is the way the second sodimm should fit and look compared to the first sodimm. You sometimes need to spread the side levers out with your fingers while pushing the sodimm flat against the mainboard. Then push the levers toward the sodimm to hold it down. Jack E/NJ

So you say sometimes a socket may not work smoothly and need to use your fingers to open the levers? Because in my situation when i m pressing down the sodimm in the 2nd socket, levers doesnt click and lock. On the other hand the first socket works as intended.

In the first socket i put the sodimm and pressed it down. It felt like pushing a spring and after that the two smal levers clicked and locked the sodimm. On the other socket it doesnt feel like you push down a spring and levers doesnt click ot lock.

Then try to manually spread the levers apart by hand (they may be sticky from not being used), then push the sodimm down, then manually pinch the levers together toward the sodimm to hold it down. As long as the sodimm actually slides into the socket, the spring tension from the socket's 204 pin wire connectors, should put sufficient tension on the two levers to keep the module in place. It should work OK. Jack E/NJ

Problem fixed! The second socket was a lot tighter than the other one and I didn't move the RAM module far enough into the socket before pressing down. Sorry for the trouble people and thank you all for your answers!
