Hi there,

I have a Swift SF314-54G for less than a year and recently I've been having battery problems.

About a month ago or so, my laptop stopped fully charging to 100%. At first, it would go to 96-98, and now most times it wont even reach 90...

The light on the side of the laptop would go from orange to blue when it was fully charged. Now, it never goes blue, and simply turns off when the laptop stops charging (as if it wasnt plugged in).

I already tried the "reset battery solution", pressing the pinhole on the back for a few seconds, but it did nothing. I also noticed that some people are having the same issue, but I still haven't found a solution to this problem on any thread.

Many thanks for your help!

  • Can you check battery wear with hwinfo64? Also, have you tried to disconnect and reconnect the battery?

    Hi, thanks for your answer

According to hwinfo, wear level is 26,4%.

Well, as I said, i did try to reset the battery by pressing the pinhole button on the back, but since this model has an internal battery i can't manually disconnect it (i dont really trust myself to disassemble it).

EDIT: I also updated the drivers, which, unfortunately, didn't work

The battery reset procedure is more than pressing the reset button. Try this:
Disconnect power then press and hold the reset button using a paperclip for 130 seconds. Release the button and wait 15 to 30 minutes. After that time has elapsed, plug the power back in and wait for it to show a full charge. When it's got a full charge turn it back on.
You can also try a battery recalibration in Windows:
While running disconnect the power so it's on battery. Leave it running long enough for the battery to discharge to the point where Windows shuts down due to the low battery. Plug it in with the laptop still off and wait for the full charge indicator, then first it up. Repeat the process at least a couple of times and Windows will be much more accurate.
