Acer nitro 5 an515-43-roym BOOT LOOP

Two nights ago I went onto the Acer website, and looked to verify if there were any new updates for my Nitro 5. I came across Bios update (Update TP behavior and device manager information when hybrid shutdown). With it being one of the updates that had shown up I downloaded it. However during the install it stopped, and I got (error 0xc0000225 and at times Oxc00000e). Like many of us I work from home, purchased this computer just 2 months ago, and up until now I never experienced any issues. I've created a bootable USB, that didn't correct the issue permanently. It appeared that the issue was resolved earlier today, however when I went to use it just now it went back to the same loop?

By loop I am referring to the computer going into a "repair" but it won't allow a repair to proceed. It just keeps bringing me to the advanced options menu for UEFI and that doesn't appear to change anything either. I originally was able to get the full windows restore to complete. By using my secondary HD that I added when I first purchased the computer. At that point I cloned the original SSD to that secondary .  I'm at a loss at this point I've done everything I can think of, and all of my searches I've come across bring me right back to creating a bootable media USB or disc, which I've already tried.

I am currently using my old laptop that the Nitro 5 was replacing as the long term solution, so I would greatly appreciate any insight outside of having to send the computer back to Acer for a warranty repair.

I should note that I did upgrade the RAM to 16Gb and the original SSD was upgraded from 256GB to the currently installed, and previously cloned earlier today Crucial p1 500gb HD.

Firstly, you should never ever update a BIOS just for the sake of it! The error code(s) that you have gotten are interpreted as follows:

    1. Error code 0xc0000225 - means that Windows cannot find the required System Files to boot, or cannot verify the digital signature of a recently installed device driver or application. The 0xc0000225 error (Your PC needs to be repaired) may happen at the following cases:
    2. Error code Oxc00000e titled “Your PC needs to be repaired” - indicates a hardware failure or an incorrect drive configuration.

See this guide ‘How to fix error 0xc000000e and 0xc0000225 "Your PC needs to be repaired" on Windows 10” here: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-error-0xc000000e

Also, the BIOS version 1.09 dated 2020/05/18 and titled “1.Update TP behavior and device manager information when hybrid shutdown” is not the latest and/or has anything to do and only fixes aspects of what the title is in regards to the BIOS, which should not have concerned you if your Nitro 5 AN515-43 was operating 100%. Updating a BIOS to the latest version is a bad habit that allot of people make a mistake in doing and contributes to bricking their systems due to inappropriate and broken BIOS updates. You are very lucky that this BIOS update didn’t BRICK your Nitro 5 AN515-43 and completely made it inoperable and you would have had to replace its mainboard or BIOS chip, this is especially when you say that during the BIOS update... “However during the install it stopped, and I got (error 0xc0000225 and at times Oxc00000e)” you are very lucky that both of these errors can be fixed, good luck!

    Goodmorning,

Steven thank you for the reply, and I would have to agree i've always been under the impression . That you need to update BIOS periodically,  which I now know isn't the case .

While booting from the ssd I installed (120gb Kingston) which is connected by a Sata cable it will bring me to my desktop . However everything I set back up for work is not showing up . So my guess is that something is corrupt on my other ssd(crucial P1). I'm going to take a shot on some of the steps in that guide this morning, but should i do this with the crucial installed or the original ssd that came with the laptop installed ? I experienced the same problem with the stock ssd as I do with the crucial .

With the Kingston it runs fine so I can only imagine either of those listed above have something to do with my problems.  I originally had the Crucial as my primary and this Kingston as my secondary. If that helps any? So I would think a full format on the Crucial and a cloning would be needed? However I've done that yesterday,  everything was working perfectly and then like I said I later went to use it and it went back to those other problems .

Again thank you for your help.

So i went back at it during work this morning, was able to get it to reboot however I'm still pretty sure i'm going to get the same result as I did yesterday with the clean reboot, and once I clone the device to the Crucial or the stock (Skhynix 256gb ssd). As of right now I was able to completely reboot the pc , and go back to factory for the 2nd time in the last 24hrs. So if the issues start back up, I'm a little confused what the issue would be if allows me to do this, and get back to my home screen on the 120GB Kingston, but not on either of the other SSD's.

Also aside from the Crucial provided cloning software on their site, is there something free and user friendly I should use to maybe try and get the original SSD working properly ? I can't imagine either of the SSD's had failed or were faulty because they both worked fine i just needed the additional space .
  • Does the same problem occur when you press alt + f10 before the acer logo?

I will have to try that during startup egydiocoelho, however I was able to get it to do a full factory restore , wiping the entire pc. I just downloaded Acronis True Image for Crucial. And, went ahead and did a full format on my Crucial P1 SSD. I'm going to try and see if with a full format that took about 2hrs did the trick. Otherwise the pc is working just as described while running on this Kingston 120GB sata.

I had the same type of problem with my acer laptop.  Sometimes it would boot, sometimes it wouldn't.   I just replaced my hard drive with a SSD, and, at least for today, it has been rock solid.    Previous to that, I was trying the chkdsk /f, and about every time it ran, it found problems.   If you are intermittently reading and writing to bad memory on a bad drive, it's going to work like sh**.   That's why I bought my son a different brand.
  • @eelmont Try disabling fast startup in the power options and fastboot in the bios.

What actually ended up fixing things is, I completed a full format of my crucial p1 500gb ssd. That took 7hrs and once that completed I cloned my 120gb Kingston to the crucial.  Now since the 2nd its been working great . I wasn't sure it would work but it definitely did the trick.  I'm going to assume there must have been a bad sector on thay sdd .
