Good news! Those numbers look much more believable.

The battery is still not charging while powered up, only when powered down. Should I reattempt calibration without total discharge? Find a new MB?

    Thank you, stay well, Bob

Is it not charging at all when powered up, as in discharging as if the charger wasn't connected, or is it just holding it's own? The charger may just not have enough oomph...

It no longer charges for more than 5 minutes when powered up. Before the calibration, it would charge for about 30 minutes, and then start to discharge. It is a new adapter 120W 19vdc. And I repeated the driver install and power reset.

Today the battery charged for about 2 hours, then began to discharge, with both power and battery blinking. HWInfo is confused too, shows the battery is charging, contrary to Windows battery indicator.   This intermittent behavior confounds me.

Yeah, there almost has to be more than one thing going on and they conflict with each other. Do a couple more cycles through the battery calibration, remember to fully charge with the laptop off before turning it back on to start the discharge cycle.

Did another Calibration overnight, as you suggested. Acer Ran >2hrs before starting to discharge. Will let it die at the end of this session for an additional cycle.

I am thinking the HWMonitor is not sensing the true power/battery situation. HWInfo, Speccy, and Windows seem to recognize the discharge. Only after a restart did HWMonitor recognize that house power was absent. Screen-grab collage has the current readings of battery/charging status.

Repeated the calibration. The character of the problem has changed substantially and is much closer to a solution. Sessions without discharge can last about 2 hours before discharge begins. Letting the battery go down to 5% and then re-charging it while powered on appears to work as well - the laptop is usable even while the battery is charging.

It has become more difficult to characterize the issue, although it does still seem to happen after a period.

For the sake of spending more time attempting to duplicate the problem reliably, it has become very challenging - and that's good. The return on more time spent on this has diminished. So let's call it done, solved, and pop the cork on a bottle of soda!

Thank you especially billsey & egydiocoelho for the thought and expertise. I sincerely appreciate your suggestions.
