So I bought this new Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 a few weeks ago.

All was fine for a day until I did some updates. It started freezing. Just screen and audio freezing to which I needed to hold the power down to restart. I reinstalled Windows just in case updates were the issue, all was fine till a day passed and freezing. Its not every day, sometimes more times then often it just freezes.
Recently though it doesnt just screen freeze but now the screen goes black. Keyboard still lights up. I've held back on Windows updates. Its repaired the C drive. Twice when crashed it came up with No reboot device which a simple restart fixed.

I'm trying turning off hardware acceleration and such as it happens more in browsers but isnt limited to it.

Sorry if this has been asked before but its hugely frustrating and I dont at all want to put anything on it just yet until this is sorted.

Thanks!

First try this, go into the BIOS, by pressing either F2 or F12? Go to “Exit” and “Load Setup defaults” and see if that fixes this problem? If not go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC as this will rest all your drivers and also lets you keep your personal files too. Also, what I would suggest is for you to backup your personal files (if you have any on this new laptop) on an external drive to be 100% sure and then do this “Reset this PC” as this usually fixes all driver and Win-10 operative problems!

Also, it’s very unusual for a new laptop to have these problems that you are having? What update(s) have you done? Is it for Win-10? Also what version and OS built of Win-10 are you running? As the last and latest is version 2004, OS build 19041.450, see your version at Settings > System > About. Were these updates to do with “Windows Update” or graphics drivers, or individual drivers that you have done, what are they?
