I have Aspire R15 (R5-571TG-78G8) laptop. My laptop has Intel HD Graphics 620 which appears to be compatible with 4K at 60Hz. It also has NVidia Geforce 940MX.   But I think my HDMI port is 1.6, not 2. Will a USB-C to HDMI 2 adapter solve the problem?

I'd like to hook up a 27 inch 4K 60 Hz monitor. Since I don't have the monitor yet, I dont see anything over 1920x1080 in the resolutions for display. Does a monitor with higher res have to be actually plugged in to see higher res or should I see higher res but grayed out because there's not one plugged in?

Suggestions on good 4K monitor are welcome too. Under $400 preferable.

Thanks in advance.

    It doesn't look like it:
The HDMI port is 1.4, the USB-C is gen 1, so no video. You can, however, put a USB dock on that will allow 4K out one or more of the video ports on the dock, just not fast enough for gaming.
