2020 Acer Predator Helios 300: Audio Issues PH315-53

Hello,

I recently purchased the above laptop. I am well satisfied in all aspects but one: when I connect a device to the audio jack, there is this constant high pitch whining sound. It is alright for a short moment after I plug in my headset, but after that the sound constantly persists. I am fairly certain it is a software issue (if I mute my laptop, the sound goes away, and though it is difficult to tell, I am fairly certain the intensity of the sound is influenced by the volume setting). I have checked that my drivers are up to date. Any fixes, or even a workaround solution, would be much appreciated.

taznkid  TANTANTAN could be the internal mic too high and feedback not sure well as its brand new model i would just send it back to acer to get it checked contact the acer support directly as its not normal out of the box the only thing i know its that microsoft windows updates broke the realtek drivers on 2004 and its ms fault my advice as always disable updates from update drivers/firmware or completely to avoid issues and headaches good luck

Contact local customer service is just a waste. They will just help you factory reset your "NEW" laptop.  :'( This is the only thing they will do

TANTANTAN contacting acer support and schedule a repair under rma if they just tell u to reset it dont accept it as a solution tell them you already tried that and escalate to the highest rank available if you dont insist of course they wont do anything the support depends on each country some are fine others more difficult in those more difficult countries the only solution its to escalate good luck

It is totally software issue. Have to wait acer to release bios or driver update since every owner of that new helios 300 have same problem. First time purchase this brand and get this kind of garbage. And their staff cannot even rectify the problem :/ . I bet other owner just use it as laptop without audio output.....

I have the exact same problem. @t@taznkid @t@TANTANTAN did you find a fix to the problem? My model number is : PH315-53-72E9

Bumping this for help. I'd really like to know if this is a software issue or a hardware one. My issue is a bit different as the change in volume does not affect the high pitched noise. When you change volume to 0 it instantly goes away and when you increase the volume even to 2 there is a high pitched sound.

I spoke to customer care. The executive was so rude and told me the problem was with my earphones. I pointed to this thread and yet they deny it. Could I hope for some resolution? It was a lot of money spent!

I too had this problem with my predator helios 300. There is a temporary fix to this, if your headphone has it's own volume roller reduce the volume in that till the high pitched sound goes away and then raise the volume in the laptop.

So is there any solution or we just have to list to this screeching noise ? If it is a software problem why there is no software update?

@predhelios @ZonDe19 @Neeraj101 Currently no fix on my side. The only solution is keep any application that run on nvidia gpu running on background.... The noise will gone whenever the nvidia gpu is active...

If running the GPU fixes it, isnt there an option in the nvidia control panel to run all apps on the RTX card.
@TANTANTAN you might be onto something here
Also It's most likely a Software issue as i saw a few posts on dell's support site while i was looking for a solution for this issue

Also instead of having geforce experience running all the time to avoid the sound you can make some other application like discord for example to run on your GPU. by default discord runs on integrated graphics you can change this in the nvidia control panel.

@ZonDe19 @Neeraj101 Hmm, a bit out of topics. But can you guys check the display part on your laptop from device manager - monitor - generic - hardware IDS. Mine shown cheap display (NCP004D).... Is that true for your model ? After few research my helios 300 2020 display is just 45 ntsc and not 72 ntsc as listed on their website...
