Camera not working

Hi All,

Laptop Model: Aspire V 17 Nitro

OS: Windows 10 Home

Version: 10.0.19041 Build 19041

My laptop camera suddenly stopped working and it is not even detected anymore (in Device Manager). When I took it to the local computer repair store, they told me that it works when the replace the hard disk with another one, which means that there is no hardware problem. Does anyone have any suggestion on how I can resolve this issue?

Hi @Adityan

 you might need to reset the computer. Note while performing reset, ensure to select Keep my files so that your personal files will be saved.

Follow these steps to reset the computer:

1. Click Start menu icon in left bottom corner.
2. Click on Power button, hold down Shift key and click on Restart.

Make sure you hold the Shift key down when Windows is restarting and don’t release it until you see the following screen.

3. Select Troubleshoot.

4. Select Reset this PC.

5. Select Keep my files.

Hi LunaAdmirer,

Many thanks for your response.

I followed your instructions but when I choose Reset PC, the only two options I find are Startup settings and UEFI Firmware Settings.

I remember previously trying this using a USB Windows boot disk and windows recovery option but when I did choose keep files, it always failed after a few minutes.

While I'd like to have the camera working, I definitely don't have the time or energy to reinstall all the software and would not want to do a full format.
