Hi, I have currently installed 8GB Ram @2666 running on dual channel. Away from normal office use I run this laptop for heave gaming usually on the highest possible settings Plus sound and video editing software. So I was thinking to upgrade RAM to 16GB dual channel but wanted to ask before spending the bucks if it will make any significant improvement on performance? or it's just waste of money? and which brand do you suggest?
Thanks.
Thanks.

8gb is a bare minimum for gaming these days, having in mind that a fresh win install is eating ~1,5 to 2gb, so 16gb would be good upgrade. Brand doesn`t matter as they all use Micron, SKHynix or Samsung chips. Take whichever is cheaper. Please click "Yes" if I have answered your question.

No, because it will run @2666 as your memory controller in the CPU supports max 2666 look here: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/134876/intel-core-i5-8300h-processor-8m-cache-up-to-4-00-ghz.html
But if it is cheaper than 2666 then go for it.Please click "Yes" if I have answered your question.
