Hi
I had a power failure and at start up my pc was saying that it could not boot...it reset my bios which a friend of mine fixed. Everything was working perfectly before bringing it home.  I collected my pc from her and 2 days later i turned my pc on to get some aork done and it starts up perfectly but there is no display ... my screen stays pitch black.  We stripped the thing down and checked everything...we even put a new battery for the bios as well as a new Ram Card....nothing works.  Has anyone got any advice on what could possibly be the problem.  There is almost no info on this pc on the web.

There are a couple of things that can cause a black screen like that. Worst is if the motherboard or processor has failed so the system won't even start to boot. Better is if the screen has failed, but not a whole lot better. :) If that were the case you could connect an external monitor to the HDMI port and get a display to show there. Even better would be if the display backlight had failed, there you can see what's on the screen by shining a flashlight at it at an angle. Next step better is a failed power supply and best is if the power cord is loose...

Hi billsey thank you for your reply.  the computer comes on and starts perfectly.  I have tried connecting an external screen and it did not display anything.  I read up that this particular computer has an input HDMI not output HDMI so it won't duplicate the screen so that was a fail.  Im not sure how to check or even where to check the screens backlight. I'll check that with a flashlight like you suggested. I really hope my screen has not gone as its a touch screen and probably not worth replacing. My power supply is pushing our 19.4 so I dont think its that.

Did you have any luck seeing images with the flashlight? If the system was previously setup for remote access then you could come in that way to verify it's function sans screen, but I don't think I could enable remote access blind, and I've enabled it many, many times over the years. :)

oh i see i was not aware of that,I guess my settings is for input not output then. Nothing can be seen on the screen unfortunately.  my last resort now is to take it to an acer apprived repair centre?
