Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-54) won't turn on

I was playing games on my laptop before a thunderstorm that caused our power to go out for a couple seconds. Then I stopped using it for a couple hours, and when I came back I tried turning it on, but nothing happened and the charging light wasn't on either ( it was plugged in). I tried a power cycle. I plugged it in without the battery to see if the battery was defective but that wasn't the case. I tried having only the battery in but no ac adapter and that didn't work. It's currently sitting on my desk plugged in with all it's parts in place. It still wont turn on, and the charging light still isn't on. I'm not really quite sure where to go from here.

This happened to me also, the battery and charger must have been shortened threough the power point and could be damaged. Try your charger on another laptop or get a Multimeter and see if the charger works? 

To check voltage of your charger on a Multimeter do this:

1. As the Voltage coming out of the charger is purely DC so set the Voltmeter voltage level to DC 
2. Connect your laptop AC Power adapter to the mains AC Supply and switch on the Power button. 
3. After successfully plugging the laptop charger connect the Multimeter Red probe inside of the Charger point plug and Black probe to the outside of Multimeter charging point pug. 
4. Check the readings on your multimeter if it is in the real of your Chargers Volts specs then your charging is perfectly fine else if there is no readings on your Multimeter or readings fluctuate rapidly then it is an indication of faulty AC adapter.
5. Also check the battery the same way, if its got any power and is to its specs.

Otherwise you will have to replace the battery and the charger or just one of the two, depends on which is working and which is not.
