I have an "Acer Aspire A515-51" laptop. I've had it for a few years and it has some wear and tear so to speak. When I got home from work I found that upon booting it up it wasn't functioning correctly and wouldn't even go to my desktop. It'll 'diagnose' the problem and then attempt an automatic repair then the auto repair will fail. After the failed auto repair it will bring me to this screen (see picture). I have tried, without exaggeration, every single option within this blue menu and I am at a loss for how to fix this computer. I have purchased a new computer at this point. I would like help in somehow getting this to let me onto the desktop one last time so that I may receive the irreplaceable files on that.

No problem, any simple USB stick will do, 4+ GB just in case, but we wouldn't need anything fancy. You may as well just have one laying around, the only thing is that we'll need to erase it temporarily to put the boot image in there, but other than that anything serves.

Ideally, we'll try to get that computer working again, but accessing your files shouldn't be a problem. It could possibly be done by taking the disk out of there and inserting it in a USB to SATA adapter (if it is one of those 2.5'' drives) to connect it via USB to any other machine ;)

OK, first of all you need not panic, you will likely be able to access the files inside. It does seem that the boot process has been damaged for some reason but for now there's no reason to think that your data is irrecoverable.

Do you have access to another computer and a USB stick we could use to create a bootable environment in which to work? I can guide you through all of the steps, no problem at all.

If I were procure such items - where'd be the best place to get them? I mean. My new computer arrives on the 13th, supposedly. What kind of USB do I need?

    Thanks for the help!

I did not want my comment to be the "accepted answer".
