Are cooling pads still necessary?

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an Acer Predator Triton 300 (PT315-51). As this is my first laptop, I want to take care of it and prolong its use. While I don't do much gaming nowadays, I still want to make sure if the Turbo Boost feature of the laptop will suffice without the need for a cooling pad?

I understand that in the past, cooling pads are necessary to extend the laptop's life and to avoid any overheating issues, but I'm wondering if modern laptops and again, with Acer Predator's Turbo Boost feature which has a way to boost the fans and reduce the laptop's temperature is already built-in to the hardware, if that will be good enough for say about 2-4 hours of gaming.

Currently, I don't think I'll need a cooling pad if I use the laptop for work purposes but when I want to game, I notice the CPU goes at most about 85-90 C then I'll use the Turbo Boost to reduce that to 80 C. Can the Turbo Boost be enabled for longer use or do you guys think I should still get a cooling pad?

Thanks in advance to those who can help!
