Hi,

In order to have the RAM upgraded of my Acer Aspire M3900, I have ordered from Amazon the kit Timetec Hynix IC DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10600 Unbuffered Non-ECC 1.5V CL9 2Rx8 Dual Rank 240 Pin UDIMM Desktop Memory Ram Module Upgrade… (8GB Kit (2x4GB)).

However, to have assumed I have spent a good time figuring out which one would be compatible, I probably have overlooked anything specific though. After replacing the new modules on slot 1 and 3 with the old sticks, the pc keeps bleeping ( Long continuous bleep).

Details of the old RAM are as follows:

Try install the new RAM stick to the original working  memory slot (take out the old memory stick), see if you get error beeps? Be sure the memory stick inserted well and you heard the "Click" sound when installing.

First, what OP are you running, are you still with Win-7 or have update to Win-10? Your M3900 takes a max mem of 8GB and has 4x slots (2 banks of 2) and comes with OEM ram of 6GB removable. You should have no problems upgrading the M3900 with 2x 4GB DDR3 PC3-10600 1333MHz 240-pin DIMM sticks which will improve its performance and usability with Win-10 tremendously

What manufacturer bios is it? Is it Award? The bios is important and the M3900’s latest bios is not the version “P01-B1L” where did you get this bios from? Updating a bios from another source is very dangerous and will brick your computer. The last bios (recommended by Acer see here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/2492?b=1) is dated 2010/07/12 and its version P01.B0L titled “BIOS For Linux & FreeDOS”.

Also “the pc keeps bleeping (Long continuous bleep)” tell us the manufacturer of the bios.

I wrote this guide thinking of people willing to upgrade the RAM of their laptop, but maybe it helps you somehow: https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/608352/guide-how-to-find-out-if-you-can-upgrade-the-ram-and-which-one-you-need

It could just be an incompatibility of timing, or ranks, or maybe even the BIOS has a whitelist of modules (god forbid) and you're just restricted to a but a few. Older systems tend to show quirks like this one.

If the beeping happens only when you have the new RAM installed it could mean it's not being recognized, that's something that's missing in laptops because there's no more PC speaker anymore but desktops still retain it, specially of that era.
