My computer came with a 500 GB M2 NVME Drive.  I was thinking about using my current hard drive to supplement this but it is very old and slow.  So I decided to add 1TB of either SSD memory or 1Tb of M2 NVME memory.
It looks to me like I can add the SSD memory by using one of the SATA III plugs and power from the cable used by the DVD drive.
To use the M2 NVME memory I would have to use a PCIe adaptor and I have a to get a PCIe x16 slot adaptor.
Any advice on which would be better and what PCIe adaptor to get?

    Dear Steve P0309,

Seems like you can do both. With the available SATA  data connector and the corresponding power connector you can add a 1 TB 2.5" SATA SSD. If you have an unoccupied PCIe 3.0 x16 slot on the motherboard, you can put a PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD adapter to add a M.2 NVMe SSD (you can use M.2 SATA SSD too, but why use SATA when you can have NVMe?).

I just did it several weeks ago. You can view my thread

"Adding M.2 NVMe SSD with PCIe 3x4 Adapter Card to the x16 slot" posted here for some info. Should be around page 4 or page 5. My computer is TC-885-UA91, but the concept should be the same.

Thanks for the information.  I'm going to do the M2NVME first and maybe later put in the SSD to use as a backup drive.  Great minds think alike.
