can i add an internal 2.5 ssd to a sp315-51-579m.  it has a toshiba m.2 2280 m+b key drive in it and just a blank hole where I would put the 2.5 ssd .   I am getting some no boot device errors with the original drive so want to add the regular ssd as a clone and failsafe.

Yes you can, though there are a couple of extra bits you most likely have to purchase in addition to the drive itself. The drive is held in place by two pieces of rubber, the Acer part number for them is 47.GK9N5.001. There is also a cable that goes between the MB and drive, it's Acer part number is 50.GK9N5.001. It's not too difficult of a process to put it in, though you do need to be gentle when prying the bottom cover off. The 2.5" drive space is adjacent to the battery and the MB attachment is to the side of the drive. This shows it with the battery removed and the LED board cable ready to disconnect. The drive cable is right beside the LED cable.

Yes, it's the same cable for any 2.5" SATA device, HDD or SSD. The cable has both power and data.
