Hello. Just purchased a brand new Nitro 5 AN515-55-53AG today. Setup everything was a breeze. However when I plug in headphones there is a really high pitch noise whenever I'm on a screen with video. I guess it could be described as a whine. I don't hear it when the audio is coming from the speakers, just when headphones are plugged in.

Any fix ideas?

Does this happens on DC or on Battery or both?

Both. My first thought was to unplug it. No Dice. Happens all the time. But only when audio is either playing or about to be played.

Did that didn't help at all. I tried 2 other headsets thinking maybe it was that particular pair to no avail. Its weird, it goes away when not in audio but second i click to a page that has a player or hit play on say windows player its there.

What about other players try VLC  for example? This only happens when you play videos in browser, right? I assume you use Chrome, try with Firefox.

No it also happens with windows player files as well. So like I have mp4 video files from my phone. I opened them in the stock windows media player and it does it then too.

Well to exclude or confirm HW issue could you boot a live linux distro and check if the issue is present as well?

Update: swapped the laptop out for a new one. The new laptop hasn't had this issue. Definitely a hardware issue. My recommendation is to exchange is to swapped it if you're able to.

I have the problem too when I'm connected to the wall at some places. It looks like the problem is if the grounding isn't good. The audio doesn't have a ground isolation. I got some digital clicks too, and that usually is caused by ground problem too. tldr: this laptop has abysmall audio ground design.
