Hi...
I've tried to upgrade the RAM's size of my laptop ACER R3-431T without success. This laptop came with 4GB integrated RAM chips in the mainboard and with one empty/free DRAM slot.
Once I installed the new RAM module, the BIOS/Set-Up nor OS(Windows 10 x64 / Windows 8 x64) don't display the new expected value.
These are the DRAM modules that I've tried(all these modules are working perfectly in another laptops):
- ADATA 4GB PC3-12800S-11/DDR3 1600 CL 11 - Model/PN: AM1U16BC4P2-B19H - chips brand: ADATA
- ADATA 4GB DDR3 1333- Model/PN: AD3S1333W4G9-B - chips brand: ADATA
- Hynix 4GB PC3-10600-9-11-F3 - chips brand: Hynix
- RAMAXEL 4GB PC3-10600 /DDR3 1333 - Model/PN: RMT3020EC58E9F - chips brand: ELPIDA
- Micron 1GB PC3-10600S-9-10-C1/DDR3-1333 - Model/PN: MT4JSF12864HZ-1G4D1 - chips brand: Micron

The BIOS was updated with the latest version v1.12 as described here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/5720?b=1&pn=NX.MSSAL.007&sn=52008726376

1. Any idea about these issue?

2. Is there a list of compatible DDR3 modules with this laptop?

Regards,
Carlos

I believe the issue is you've been buying DDR3 memory and the system uses DDR3L. DDR3 runs at 1.5V and DDR3L runs at 1.35V, so they can not always be used interchangeably. You can put either a 4GB or 8GB module in that slot to get 8GB or 12GB of system memory. It should be DDR3L 1600MHz (PC3L-12800).

    Hi @billsey

That makes sense. Hope to have an opportunity to try that DDR3L type.
    Thanks for your answer!
