laptop want go past "no bootable device" on my older, aspire V3-771, after it fell!

Hello there ,

I am new here, and not too familiar with computer language.(I am sorry, as far windows goes I am ok). I am trying to start up an old laptop again, Acer Aspire V3 - 771 ,( I know it isn't much),as a project to learn a bit of computers. The laptop fell to the ground some time ago and gave a black screen afterwards . when starting up now, he gives for about 2 minutes the starting "acer" screen, and then shows the message " no bootable device".
I looked in the bios . and it seems it still recognizes the HD (HHD0) as does the RAM and video memory. I do not really know where to look in the bios to see what could be wrong. did the bios setup change after falling or maybe something is broken...
I opened the laptop to carefully check if anything is loose, but at first glance it looks ok.

should I start with replacing the small battery and get the bios right? or is this purely a problem with the HD?
in the BIOS it looks like it boots first from the HD .

Any advice and help is much appreciated!

maybe I should say that I lost my windows password also and maybe therefor he can't boot after falling? 🧐

Do you have how to connect another hard drive to the laptop? When the notebook falls, depending on the impact, the hard drive may suffer some damage. Also, have you tried to connect the hard drive to another computer?

I managed to reboot the laptop with the recovery cd's i ordered from acer itself .It took a while to install but it now works fine .

Open bios and go to boot,change legacy to UEFI,then reboot.

seems the Boot mode is already in UEFI .
when starting the computer up it stays on "acer" screen for minutes .

I haven't connected the Hard drive to another laptop . (only have an Asus laptop) is that possible . I could look it up how to do that . don't now if it is dangerous to loose data on the other laptop?
maybe I should order a new HD

(would that fix the problem?

Can you take the hd to a repair center for the technician to test the hdd on another computer?

i also noticed in BIOS that my graphic memory is only 128Mb .it's an intel hd graphics 4000, so it should get its memory from my 6gb ram ? is that 128 mb normal ? or is that maybe broken too

hello!

i have bought a new hard drive for the aspire V3-771.
but I still have the problem.
I have placed it in the laptop which went good. it is detected in the bios.
The hard disc is empty with no windows . so I made a bootable usb stick with a original windows 8 ISO file. I followed the steps on the microsoft website .
To install the windows from the usb I had to change the boot order so it would boot first from the usb hdd. (in UEFI mode)
But It still doesn't find any bootable device. (the blue screen pops up faster then before now)

i also enabled F12 boot manager . but no devices are shown there
I have tried setting the bios to default settings...

i am probably missing something or thinking something is broken ?

my bios version is v2.20

any help is much appreciated

only problem is I can't boot from anything ,when launching the boot manager . there is nothing listed .( it does not show the USB port or anything else? )
i have had contact with ACER and they are sending a recovery DVD with the windows that was originally on the laptop. I hope it works from cd/dvd drive.

After some inquiry in what could be wrong with the laptop.my brother, who was using the laptop, told me the computer was freezing in a simple program , before it was actually hit (out of frustration) 😩 so I actually think something more then only the harddrive is wrong:(
maybe a loose cable ...
do you have any idea where there could be a problem ?

i should maybe make another post on the forum about this? because this post is marked "solved" by accident 🧐.
