How do I use DP ALT input for XR382CQK monitor?

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I've been quite happy with my XR382CQK, but there's one issue that's puzzling me.  There's a DP ALT input, and, it's clearly not the same thing as DP OUT as far as I can tell.

What little I've found online suggests that it's DP through the USB-C port, and that, if I want to be able to do 60Hz at the monitor's native resolution, I need to turn off USB 3.0, and so I have done that.

I purchased the following DP-to-USB-C adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0836H2S7S

I tried with two different computers, with a known working DP cable.  The monitor tells me "No Signal"

What am I doing wrong?

What computers are you trying it with? Many of the USB-C ports are gen 1 and don't support DP.

1-a Dell XPS 8700, Haswell era i5, GTX 1080 video card

2-an ASRock A300W DeskMini. A300 chipset, Athlon 200GE APU, integrated graphics.

For both of them, I connected a DP cable to the computer, and used a DP-to-USB-C adapter to plug so that the video out of the computer could be plugged into the USB-C of the monitor.

Use this Acer guide “How to connect a computer with USB-C port to an external display” here: https://us.answers.acer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/48481/~/how-to-connect-a-computer-with-usb-c-port-to-an-external-display#:~:text=Use%20a%20USB-C%20to%20USB-C%20cable%20to%20connect,to%20a%20display%20port%20on%20an%20external%20display.

Note: and as Acer says, that Acer has not qualified third party adapters or cables, so we are unable to recommend or guarantee compatibility with third party adapters and cables. It could be that the adaptor is not compatible to the Acer XR382CQK

Oh, I think I may have misunderstood how it works.

Based on that last link, it seems like the only way to use the USB-C on the monitor as DP-ALT is from a USB-C that supports video output on the computer.

So, does that mean that there is absolutely no way to go from DP output on the computer, to the USB-C input on the Acer monitor?  The guide you linked doesn't list that as a possibility.  But, if computer DP to monitor USB-C is possible, does Acer sell a cable that is qualified to work for this purpose?
