Acer F5-573G does not recognize power adapter: battery not charging.

My Acer F5-573G suddenly does not recognize the power adapter. I have to reboot or turn off/on the power many times until it starts to charge again.
The power adapter is the original one and I've tested with a voltmeter that it has correctly around 19 v of output.

I am running Linux Debian. Nothing has changed in my configuration.
It must be something hardware-related but I cannot figure what.
I tried to discharge the battery completely and also to reset the battery from the small hole in the bottom.
It would be a shame to throw away it for this reason... Anyone has any advice for me?

Is the jack making a good connection with the port?

If you can, disassemble the machine, plug in the adapter and poke the connections of the plug from inside with the multimeter until you get a reading. Then try moving the cable a bit to see if there's any change.

It's odd for sure, and Linux is no problem at all, seems mechanical to me too.

Thanks for the answer, but it is surely not the jack. If I turn off and on without moving anything, it starts working again. I fear it is something electronic-related.
But I will take your suggestion into account.

Maybe you can simply try another charger to see if it gets rid of the issue.

Thanks for the answer to you too, the charger has only two output pins, correctly giving 19 v. Before throwing away the computer, I will try to buy another charger, tough.

Until now I was able to make it work rebooting many times before the battery went down completely...
Someone experienced the same odd problem?

I have experienced similar things, but with crappy power supplies, badly designed with sh¡t regulators and stabilization. They'd output correctly-ish up until they warmed up for example, then they began to act erratically. Or up to a certain amount of current, which it'd make them shut off altogether (and the current wasn't exceeding their specifications by the way).

Often when I turn on the PC the problems shows.
If I turn off and on the wall power switch, it sometimes starts working again.

This just to confirm what @aphanic was saying: it was the power adapter. Replaced with one with same characteristics and now the laptop is fully working.
