I have an Acer R13 cb5 312t k1tr but it is not starting and I casn't get the chrome recovery tool to work even though I have tried it a few times.

I have tried it with USB sticks that I have reformated and used the recovery tools a few times but nothing pops up on the screen when I plug in the USB stick it just stays black.

Is there any advice about what type of USB or SD card to use and what size and format is best to use for the Chromebook?

Typically smaller is better as long as it's large enough to handle the image size. FAT32 is often better than NTFS, but exFAT is also good. There is a chance that something has failed on the machine other than the OS image though and then it's not going to work even with a correctly done recovery flash drive.Does the recovery tool come up, but then fail to install the new image, or can't you get it up at all?

Hi everyone, hope you all are safe and well.

I have an Acer CB5-312T-K1TR and has recently failed to boot to login screen.

When power button is pressed, it turns on, but just hangs at the white Chrome page. The battery is charged and the Chromebook charges, but have tried all the following, but it does not get past the white Chrome start up page.
    1. Have tried to press and hold power button for 10s, it turns off, I close lid, wait a minute, then turn back on. (No luck, still stuck)
    2. Have pressed Refresh key + power button at same time, unit powers off, it turns off, then turn back on. (No luck, still stuck).
    3. Have pressed Ctrl+Alt+shift+r, nothing happens.
    4. ESC+Refresh+power button, turns off then on, but shows a white page with chrome logo and text that says "Please insert a recovery USB or SD card.
I wonder if anyone has experienced this or has a solution that works.

    Eagerly awaiting your response

Try a power wash first, if that doesn't work download ChromeOS from Google to create a recovery flash drive, then try reflashing the OS using the recovery USB.
