Good day all!  My daughter is heading off to college soon and needs more storage space on her Switch.  Might also be interested in adding more RAM to the 4GB, if possible?  Is there a way to change the eMMC drive in this model?

    Hi,
You can install a 2.5" HDD up to a recommended size of 500GB but this model doesn't have a slot for memory upgrade, unfortunately this model comes  only with onboard memory, and also you can not do anything about eMMC.

Note that drive is actually in the keyboard, so isn't available to the tablet unless the keyboard is attached. Also some of the keyboards don't actually have the connectors for a drive, so you'll want to check before ordering. I'd definitely put an SSD in instead of a HDD so it would be less likely to have issues about sudden shocks from drops... And you aren't really limited to the 500GB HDD Acer put in, they just have only tested with what they shipped.

So, let's see if I have this correct.  We can add an SSD to the keyboard, which is how she always uses it anyway.  Was thinking about 240 or 480GB, not anything crazy.  It will fit?  Where do I get the cable from?  Thank you both for your help!

Oh, and I'm assuming this is a SATA drive?

It depends on if the keyboard is setup for the external drive already or not. Some were shipped with drives, some were shipped without drives but with the hardware to install a drive and some were shipped without the hardware... You will likely have to open the keyboard to find out. If it's got the connector and such then all you need is any standard laptop drive, SATA connection and 2.5" form factor (I think it's got enough room for a 9mm drive, but certainly has enough for a 7mm), either HDD or SSD.

I'll look inside and see what she has.  Now, either yourself or someone else mentioned adding an SD card to the tablet.  How large a card would it accept? I know I once put a 128GB card in a tablet but was only recognized as 64GB.  Worked, but only at 1/2 capacity.  I don't want to waste the money a second time.  Thank you!

It's an SDXC port, so supports microSD cards up to 2TB. It supports SD 3.0, which defines the maximum speed...
