Acer XB280HK and Universal Display Docks

TL;DR: Is there any reason that the Acer XB280HK should *not* work with universal display docks?

I've had an Acer XB280HK for a few years, which I occasionally use with my laptop for some photo or video editing, but lately a lot more since I'm working from home due to COVID. I managed to get a matching XB280HK for a song, which is great since it's kind of a pain having two vastly different sizes of displays. Unfortunately, both docks I've tried (Dell D6000, and Pluggable UD-6950H) just don't work with these monitors.

I have tried both docks using various configurations of the Acer monitors, a pair of work monitors (HP Z22N), my personal laptop (Acer Predator Helios 300 G3-571-77QK), and my work laptop (Dell Latitude 5500). All monitors work fine when plugged in to either laptop directly using a displayport to HDMI adapter. The work monitors are fine with either laptop, and either dock, but the Acer monitors just will not work through the docks, doesn't matter if it's USB-C (personal laptop doesn't offer this anyway) or USB-A.

I've tried searching online, and I can't see any reason these shouldn't be working. Anyone here have any ideas?
