I have an Acer AX1470-UR308 that came with 4GB of memory. I added 8GB of memory and when I look at the BIOS menu it shows 12 GB of memory however my OS only sees 4GGB. I am running Ubuntu 20.04. I also tried running another version of Linux from the USB and it also only showed 4GB.

The first few numbers of the S/N are DTSLQAA0012

The original 4GB memory is NT4GC64B8HG0NF-CG and I added two 4GB memory sticks of DDR3 1333MHz DIMM PC3-10600 PC3-10600U 2RX8 CL9 1.5v (240 PIN) Non-ECC Unbuffered Desktop Memory

Did you installed Ubuntu prior to installing the additional memory sticks? Try a fresh installation of Linux from USB flash drive and see. Updating hardware from Linux is not that straight forward. Also, be sure all the memory sticks have the same specifications.

I hope you are not mixing the memory sticks with different specifications. There are PC3 and PC3L memories. PC3 uses 1.5V, while PC3L uses 1.2 V. Pay attention there. Just match you original 4GB memory first.

Here are the memory sticks. The original one is on top.

I reinstalled UBUNTU 20.04 and it still only sees 4GB.

When I look at the BIOS Setup Utility it shows 12GB.

I am wondering if I need to somehow update the System BIOS so that it can see all of the memory

If there is BIOS update, please do that. In the 2012 era, there were still some computers having the memory limit of 4GB only. What was the memory limit that the computer manufacturer claimed? That is probably where the problem is. By the way, can you show the original memory too. The two memory sticks that you showed have the same specification. Also, try put only two sticks from the same manufacturer in there and see (before updating the BIOS).

Those were the two different memory sticks. :-) On the desktop, the only OS I have is Ubuntu. Here are the available drivers - https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/3916?b=1&pn=DT.SLQAA.001 I'm not sure which version of the BIOS I should use

Looks like the P11.A1L (that "L" is stand for Linux)  is the only choice left, as the date was 2012/12/03, which was later than your P11-A0 on 08/10/2012. I suppose your BIOS is a UEFI one.

Yes, the L BIOS was issued specifically for Linux installations. Unless the Linux you are runninng is 32bit it should see all 12GB.
