Anyone have any idea how this works?
I'm using an older Macbook Pro with an Acer S271HL 28" external monitor. I was using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (Thunderbolt to HDMI to connect the Macbook and the monitor. One day it stopped working; the connection, that is. Got a "No Signal" window. Rummaged around through my cables and found a HDMI to a dual USB and Thunderbolt connection and, figuring I had nothing to lose, hooked it up. Voila, monitor works again. So I have the HDMI coming out of the monitor and going into this adapter which is hooked to both USB and Thunderbolt ports. If I disconnect either the USB or the Thunderbolt, the monitor quits working ("No Signal"). Any ideas? I can certainly use this setup, but it seems odd.
