Swift 3 with 8250U 512GB SSD Windows 10 Home

I have set the setting to hibernate when closing the lid. Most times, it doesn't go into hibernation when I close the lid. Upon reopening the lid, there is a black screen and I have to restart it.

Same with sleep. If I instruct the laptop to go to sleep via the start button, it comes back as the same black screen when I try to get it back.

I have used the tiny hole on the back a few times to reset things a few times as well.

It's really irritating. Does anyone have a solution?

I think this is your problem. Hibernate is essentially preparing the machine to shut down and saving current settings to disk file which is read upon re-starting the machine. So  set closing the lid to either sleep or do nothing.  Closing the lid with the do nothing setting simply shuts the screen off without affecting anything else. Jack E/NJ
