Hi All - I want to add a SSD to my second drive slot for faster booting but cannot find the HDD carrier to securely install it.  Where can I find one?

Your Aspire 8940G mustn’t have come with the 2x hard disk capacity, which only comes with a 1x 500GB HDD (in the cheaper models) to the more up range and extra 2x HDD's, which is only available in the Core i7-720QM models. That is why you haven’t got the SATA hardware in the additional HDD slot on the underneath of the Aspire 8940g.

The solution that I suggest and I've done is this, use the DVD slot and its SATA plug and power (if you are prepared to do without a DVD?) on the side and use a HDD caddy, that is what I’ve done on one of my spare muck around laptops a V3-571G and it works perfectly. My suggestion is this, clone your OEM existing spinner SATA 2.5 HDD OP system onto a 2.5 SSD and replace your OEM HDD with the 2.5 SSD and put the spinner HDD into the DVD slot with a caddy as a slave drive. That is what I’ve done and it works perfectly.

Thanks for the support.  Are you saying that even though there is room for a second drive, and the SATA interface to support a drive, I wouldn't be able to install a second drive even if I had the hardware?

I finally installed a second hard drive and the laptop indeed recognizes and allows for use of both.  Anyone else have an idea where I can find the bracket?
